In your role as a Class A Driver, you will be responsible for the following essential functions:

  • Performing daily inspections on all safety sensitive equipment (trucks, forklifts, electric jacks, etc.) to be utilized in preparing and/or the delivery or orders as per the Occupational Safety & Health Administration and the Department of Transportation regulations. 
  • Turning in proper paperwork to dispatch.
  • Keeping truck clean.
  • Operating all equipment in a safe and orderly fashion. 
  • Reporting any accident, unsafe conditions, or injuries immediately. 
  • Maintaining professional appearance.
  • Delivering orders to customers in a prompt, professional and polite fashion. 
  • Provide a consistent, positive image of Run Smart, LLC., its executives, and employees to both in-house and outside public.
  • Utilizing proper company applications for job tasks; Connecteams, ELD, Paylocity, etc.


Requirements

To be considered for this position you must have the following qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving. 
  • Ability to safely drive various vehicles.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid CDL in accordance with insurance company requirements. (2 years’ experience minimum)


Other important information to consider:

  • The ability to work a full shift, come to work on time, work additional routes/stops as needed and the ability to work according to the necessary schedule to meet job requirements with or without reasonable accommodation is an essential function of this position.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals and vibration. Also, regularly required to walk, sit, talk, hear, use hands and fingers to operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee must be able to lift thirty (30) pounds regularly, thirty-five (35) to one hundred eighty (180) pounds frequently. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Frequently this job requires an employee to walk into the warehouse. The warehouse is not heated or cooled except for the cooler where the temperature is maintained between 32 and 40 degrees. The warehouse can also be very loud due to vehicles and forklifts running. The employee may be exposed to exhaust fumes while in the warehouse.

Description

What you can expect:

As a dispatcher for Run Smart, your role is to ensure seamless and efficient pick- up and delivery of all customer freight carried by our team of drivers. Our standard is to exceed customer expectations with honest and transparent communication. 

In this fast-paced environment, quick problem-solving and communication are paramount. You will utilize your skill sets consisting of organization, communication, driver and route coordination, and problem-solving. We value teamwork here at Run Smart, and we strive to set each person on the following shift up for success. 


As you hop in the chair, it is imperative to thoroughly communicate for a seamless transition with the previous dispatcher(s) on duty to continue to execute the day-to-day operation. Throughout your shift, you are accountable for checking in and out drivers and updating their schedules while overseeing various routes. This involves meticulous data entry, including recording driver arrival/departure times, freight counts, and detention times, tailored to meet specific customer requirements. Additionally, you'll be responsible for tracking essential documentation required by drivers, such as receipts and proof of delivery forms.


It is inevitable that unforeseen situations will arise, such as breakdowns and accidents. It is important to problem solve calmly for the most efficient outcome, while navigating other variables and always prioritizing safety and security.
